Delta commencement ceremony honors hundreds of students
Delta College held their 53rd commencement ceremony on May 2.
Vice President of Student and Educational Services Margaret Mosqueda opened the ceremony.
“Graduates - we are very proud of you and wish you continued success in your future endeavors,” said Mosqueda.
Delta College President Jean Goodnow congratulated the graduates on their achievements.
“We are here tonight to celebrate your success,” said Goodnow. “This is the most rewarding time of the year for me, and I know for many of us.”
Goodnow offered graduates advice on what do now that they have received their diplomas.
“First, keep in touch with us and your fellow alumni. Next, continue teaching yourself new skills for the rest of yourself. Never, never, never stop learning,” said Goodnow. “In addition, read for pleasure. Finally, travel. Try a new hobby. And, just simply relax.”
Alyssa Cozad, 19, of Bay City, is receiving an Associates of Arts Degree. She is one of 11 students receiving a Board of Trustees Award for a 4.0 GPA. Cozad attributes her perfect score to keeping a record in her journal.
"Writing daily in my planner, keeping track of assignments and due dates and making time to study effectively allowed me to earn good grades without sacrificing sleep and sanity," Cozad said. "Believe it or not, ‘all-nighters’ are not absolutely necessary to make the grade.”
Cozad also gives credit to Delta College's Teaching Learning Center.123
